15-Year-Old UFC Hacker Sentenced in California

Ufc LogoA 15-year-old hacker, who was one of those responsible for hacking the UFC website, was sentenced in Long Beach, Calif., on Wednesday.  The underage computer savvy teen used the alias “CosmoTheGod” and was a part of the group UG Nazi, a network of hackers that brought down several websites in 2012.

He pleaded guilty to several felony charges in exchange for probation for all the charges brought against him.

Long Beach authorities declined to comment on the case, given the juvenile status of “Cosmo,” but Wired.com spoke with the convicted teen about his plea deal.

According to the Wired.com interview, “Cosmo’s” probation will extend until his 21st birthday.

“During that time, he cannot use the internet without prior consent from his parole officer. Nor will he be allowed to use the Internet in an unsupervised manner, or for any purposes other than education-related ones. He is required to hand over all of his account logins and passwords. He must disclose in writing any devices that he has access to that have the capability to connect to a network. He is prohibited from having contact with any members or associates of UG Nazi or Anonymous, along with a specified list of other individuals. He had to forfeit all the computers and other items seized in the raid on his home. Also, according to Cosmo, violating any of these terms will result in a three-year prison term,” stated the article

“Cosmo” was arrested in September as part of an international sting operation that spanned four continents and led to at least 24 arrests.

“Because there’s so much piracy of UFC merchandise, the FBI was already monitoring everything that was happening,” White told Inc.magazine at the time of the arrests.” “But after Anonymous hacked our site, we also got U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, part of the Department of Homeland Security, involved.”

The UFC has always had a stiff stance against cyber piracy and White has always opening criticized hackers.  On Wednesday, one was brought to justice.
