Thiiago silva could have won this
Yep. This fight was not very convincing for Rashad. Winning in boring fashion is one thing, but winning in boring fashion after you've taken the worst shots in the whole fight? Really not that impressive if you compare him to other top 10 Light Heavyweights.
I dont care what anybody says, thiago silva has more power than quinton, his power is well underrated, and i rekon if rashad managed to survive these two perfectly hit shots, i think unless quittin' puts all his weight into his punches, rashad will take him down and knock him out...
I love the way people compare fighters to GSP to try to criticize them. Yes, it's not that exciting... but the likes of Dan Hardy or Rampage can be criticized even more for failing to overcome effective tactics.
That being said, you have to wonder if GSP's tactics in his last one or two fights really are the best. Is he REALLY maximizing his chances of winning by being THAT conservative? I suspect not, but I'm not an expert. In my uninformed opinion, I'd agree that I think GSP has been too conservative. Rashad on the other hand... well I just don't think he's as good as GSP, and I think he has more justification in relying on conservative and boring but effective wrestling to control the fight and protect himself.

yous call rashad evans BORING?!? he has some of the greatest highlights ever, especially his KO of chuck, give this guy credit! he also tookdown thiago with ease, so why shud he try strike with him???? its MIXED martial arts. and he rocked rampage and slammed him into the matt
Rashad Evans was able to take Thiago Silva down and also survive the fight because Thiago Silva was fighting with a serious back injury so that he didn't have enough strength in his legs and enough stamina to finish the fight. Even so, Rashad Evans never had Thiago Silva in any danger with any takedown, which would be his only way of winning any "MMA" also known as "wrestling" match, because Rashad Evans doesn't know any other so-called martial art, and by the way, is wrestling even considered "martial arts"?

Ya really BJ Penn said it best when he said MMA is about fighting not grappling. What seperate fighting from grappling when it all comes down to control. Refs need to be more aggressive if the guy is not making any attempt to end the fight, then stand it up. GSP + Rashad just hold ppl and control them, its not doing any damage and its boring.

If you watch GSP when he gets takedowns he does attempt to finish the fight, look at the Dan Hardy fight, he almost broke the dudes arm. Look when he beat Matt Serra, those were some brutal knees, and if he does get a takedown hes always working to get into a better position, just because you don't understand the ground elements of the sport does not make it boring. Its like Joe Rogan said last night at UFC 122, the clinch game up against the fence is the most brutal part of the game, because its where the opponents cardio is tested most but it looks boring because its hard to see whats going on. And if you think Rashad Evans is boring then you dont have a clue what your talking about, what happened in the opening round of his fight against Rampage? Rampage got rocked! And he does not lay and pray, he works with punches and improves his position, just because your too stupid to realise it does not make it boring!

Reality Check: Sorry but Rashad has been boring since Machida mauled him. He finished Forrest with brutal GnP, but since the Machida fight he's been playing it safe and trying to win off takedowns, and if he keeps that up his best highlights are behind him.
Oh and his one good punch on Rampage did not rock him, he was off balance, but not rocked. Rashad was the only fighter ever rocked in that fight, same with the Thiago fight.
Too bad this is MMA not boxing, your opinion of striking doesnt matter. ITs a point system, ppl use wrestling to win and nothing u say will change that. if the striker ends up on his back, he should be a expert on gettn off his back, its the man on bottoms fault that he cant get up, he should beable to stop it, its a all around sport.
Too bad Thiago Silva was fighting with a serious back injury, so that he didn't have the stamina to finish the fight. Rashad Evans didn't have him in any danger with any takedown, but Thiago Silva didn't have enough strength in his legs because of his injury.

This near KO is Rashad's fault. He saw both the initial punches coming, he just did a horrible job of parrying and got clocked both times

Yeah but GSP's a welterweight. LHs hit a lot harder. Rashad has every right to be cautious.
And I have no problem with conservative tactics. MMA is a sport - it's not pro-wrestling.

It's very interesting how people quickly forgot about Thiago Silva's steroids. He is a cheater, a real man would never do that before a fight.Machida has beaten Rashad clearly, but please don't put Thiago Silva's ashamed roid ass videos. He doesn't deserves to be in MMA. He also used steroids before Brendan Vera fight. At least Rashad never uses roids unlike his opponent Thiago Silva

are underrating davis too much. He beat tough onppoents easily, and only tough fight was against little nog, who is tough for anyone. Do you really think that Rashad and Davis were supposed to fight for No1 title contender for no reason? Why don't they make Machida Davis fight for No1 contender at least? Rashad deserves the title shot but he is injured, bader lost 2 consecutive, rampage just lost for title fight, vitor is middleweight. That's why i chose davis.

Davis already beat machida in brazil and he did it with his striking
