Machida's style is very self-defensive, and any martial artist would apply a similar tactic to his if ever found in a position to fight. Evasive and looking out for your own well-being; not trying to demolish your opponent but escape and counter when absolutely necessary. It's a very efficient and humble way of fighting and I'm glad it's brought Machida continued victory.

I love the people saying he had no chance against Evans when he just destroyed him Evans got 2 hits if that off on Machida...I love his style it may not be the most exciting since he doesn't go for crazy knockouts which everyone who isn't a huge fan wants to see but if you actually see how artistic and strategic he is and just how fluid he moves it is quite amazing...his style and fighting ability cannot be taught it came through his whole life of training and working hard. Lyoto Machida is a very confusing, and tactical fighter. He won each one of his fights, including vs. Shogun. Machida's style is Shotokan Karate, which is completely foreign compared to your traditional boxers or muay thai guys. He knocked Shogun down with a reverse body punch...

Look at Machida's style, and instead of being mad that he didn't do something amazingly suprising, admire him for being a very SMART survivor.

This is one of those fights that would have been better suited to the old rules where there were less time restraints! These were two incredible fighters just duking it out punch for punch, and kick for kick! It sucks that judges had to score, but it also opened up the door for a incredible rematch that everyone would enjoy.

I still think that Lyoto is the best L.hev in the UFC.Maybe Shogun is a bad match up for him, or maybe the crowd booing got to him, but he represents what mma is all about, (being famous for his style, not physical attributes) he is an artist who is one of the most exciting fighters in mma, making it more than just a sport.

I like this guy not my fav but he is a good fighter and I think he did good Saturday with Jones, actually first guy who was able to lay his paws on Jones.lol, but the fights I saw with Jones, hes not a fighter thats is not easy to predict what he is going to do next.
